Halmstad University conducts education and research within two profile areas, Health Innovation and Smart Cities and Communities, with a basis in three prominent doctoral education areas: Information Technology, Innovation Sciences, and Health and Lifestyle. The University actively participates in social development through extensive collaboration with the industry and the public sector. Today, Halmstad University has around 11,000 students (approximately 5,200 full-time students) and offers around 50 programmes and over 130 courses within several subject fields. The University has approximately 600 employees. There are 54 Professors and 81 doctoral students (numbers from 2020).

School of Information Technology (ITE)
The School of Information Technology is a strong research and education environment, with focus on smart technology and its applications. Students and researchers are working with everything from AI and information driven care to autonomous vehicles, social robotics and digital design. ITE offers education on all levels, from undergraduate to PhD education. The research is conducted within aware intelligent systems, smart electronic systems, cyber physical systems and digital service innovation. These four areas constitute the four technology areas of the School. ITE is a multicultural school with around 130 employees from 20 different countries.
